Developments of Picosecond Lasers Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Pulse Compression

چکیده
Pulse compression based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is a nonlinear optical approach that efficiently converts high-energy nanosecond pulses into the picosecond. Since first observation of SBS pulse compression, different structures for input and output parameters were developed to optimize characteristics in past decades. Here, comprehensive review development status schemes provided, meanwhile, methods trends optimization are proposed.

Pulse Compression of Nd:YAG Laser with Stimulated Brillouin Scattering for Compton Backscattered X-Ray Source
Abstract. Compton backscattered x-ray source is developed in the energy region of a few hundred keV at Kansai Photon Science Institute of Japan Atomic Energy Agency (KPSI-JAEA). A remarkable feature of the Compton backscattered x-ray source is that the generated x-ray beam is a well-collimated and has a definite polarization property. The Compton backscattered x-ray source at KPSI-JAEA consists...
متن کاملNumerical Treatment of short Laser Pulse Compression in transient stimulated Brillouin Scattering
Received: 10.04.2002 Accepted: 24.04.2002 Abstract Results of numerical investigation of the compression process of short pulses during essentially nonstationary SBS are presented, taking into account the diffraction and focusing of the interacting light beams and the finite oscillation period and lifetime of hypersound waves in nonlinear media.
متن کاملDemonstration of laser pulse amplification by stimulated Brillouin scattering
The energy transfer by stimulated Brillouin backscatter from a long pump pulse (15 ps) to a short seed pulse (1 ps) has been investigated in a proof-of-principle demonstration experiment. The two pulses were both amplified in different beamlines of a Nd:glass laser system, had a central wavelength of 1054 nm and a spectral bandwidth of 2 nm, and crossed each other in an underdense plasma in a c...
متن کاملHigh Compact, High Quality Single Longitudinal Mode Hundred Picoseconds Laser Based on Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Pulse Compression
A high beam quality hundred picoseconds single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) laser is demonstrated based on stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) pulse compression and aberration compensation. Flash-lamp-pumped Q-switched Nd:Y3Al5O12 (Nd:YAG) SLM laser with Cr:Y3Al5O12 (Cr4+:YAG) as a saturable absorber is used as the seed source. By combining master-oscillator-power-amplifier (MOPA), a compact singl...
متن کاملPulse Compression to the Subphonon Lifetime Region by Half-Cycle Gain in Transient Stimulated Brillouin Scattering
A new approach to the transient pulse compression by stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is presented. The theoretical analysis involving the time-dependent SBS gain in explicit form leads to a nonlinear system of partial differential equations, solved numerically by a generalization of the split-step method. It is shown theoretically and confirmed experimentally that the phonon lifetime is n...
